Small businesses and unsuspecting accountants' clients are frequently led by their accountant into an understanding that the best way to keep control of the business records is to 'keep them all under one roof'. Notwithstanding fair practice rules and professional etiquette, accountants are still prepared to dupe their clients for bookkeeping charges that are costed to the client at a higher rate, perhaps even double or three times what the bookkeeper would charge.

My advice to any small or even larger business is to look objectively at your bookkeeping and accounting systems and then take what you find to your accountant and ask them to cut your bill.
